The Grand Forks School Board is moving ahead with a 50-thousand dollar capacity study for the district. The report from R-S-P Associates will examine each school building on the basis of physical…operational…and program space.
The analysis is designed to enhance a master facilities report compiled for the district a couple years ago.
Board member Cynthia Shabb questioned whether the study is really needed. Shabb says she worries about the cost and whether another study will help make facility decisions.
Board President Bill Palmiscno says the report will help the board prioritize future spending decisions and reassure the public that all angles have been looked at.
The board approved the study on a unanimous vote.
Members also approved a joint agreement for five school resource officers for the 2019-20 school year. The board also agreed to hire a Mental Health Coordinator for the district. Federal grants will cover the 82-thousand dollar cost.
