Grant funding for the Grand Forks Safer Tomorrow’s program may have run out - but the impact is far from over. For the past four years supporters have tapped into a three-point-two million dollar grant to mitigate children’s exposure to violence. The money was doled out through the U-S Department of Justice. The four lead agencies included: Grand Forks…Grand Forks School District…Lutheran Social Services….and C-V-I-C. The programs were incorporated into school curriculum throughout the county – those learning tools will continue into the future. A recent report to the Grand Forks School Board suggests that bullying is down 36-percent….school fights are down 24-percent…suspensions dropped 42-percent…and dating violence is the lowest in the state.
