A new report suggests the Grand Forks Public Service Answering Point (PSAP) processed 81,441 calls for service in 2016. That was up 9.5% compared to the previous year.

The highest volume of dispatch per agency type remains law enforcement, overall about 82.15%, although calls for service for Altru Ambulance and Grand Forks Fire Department steadily increased since 2011.

In 2016, just over 56% of Calls for Service were for the Grand Forks Police Department, followed by over 15% for the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office, and over 8% for UND Police.

Welfare Checks – saw a change from 1483 in 2011 to 2300 in 2016, increase of 55%.

Suicides – 246 responses in 2016, not including the dramatic increase in overdoses our region saw.

Medical calls for service and fire calls for service have seen a similar increase, close to 23% since 2011.
