Without discussion the Grand Forks council approved a pair of ordinances last night (Mon) impacting Town Square and other downtown pocket parks. The new laws ban the consumption or possession of alcohol and establishes hours the parks are open to six a-m and eleven p-m. The change targets Town Square as well as Pillsbury… Loon…and Centennial Parks.
The Grand Forks City Council acting as the Jobs Development Authority approved lease renewals with three businesses in the downtown Corporate Center. The trio are original tenants of the city-owned building on Demers Avenue. The agreement extends the lease through 2022 with an option to buy starting in 2020.
The city finished paying off the 20-year bonds for the Corporate Center last month. The building was a centerpiece for downtown development following the 1997 flood.
