Grand Forks street crews are doing what they can to rid roads of ice and snow following Monday’s mess. Grand Forks police say accidents and motorist assist calls have been piling up in recent days. After logging 22 accidents during a 24 hour period ending at six a-m on Tuesday – officers responded to another 28 crashes and 15 motorist assists through six a-m this morning (wed).
Street Superintendent Mark Aubol says Monday’s storm was not kind roads and highways. Aubol says the city did put a brine solution down but rain that preceded the snow diluted its strength. Conditions are expected to to improve during the week as temps begin to warm.
Aubol says they try to trick “Mother Nature” with products to melt ice and snow - but every once in a while she wins.
