From GF Fire Dept.:
On April 16th, 2019, at 8:57 p.m., the Grand Forks Fire Department responded to the report of a large fire coming through the roof of a warehouse building located just off of Mill Road.
The fire investigation, which was conducted by the Grand Forks Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s office, was hindered due to the structural condition of the building and the excessive amount of damage to the building and the contents. The Fire Marshal’s office concluded its investigation late Tuesday evening.
With the assistance of the North East Region UAS Unit, high definition aerial photos of the building and scene were obtained by the use of a UAV. However, the exact cause of the fire could not be determined by aerial photography.
The fire at 1720 Mill Road will be classified as undetermined. Based on information obtained through invterviews as well as the type of equipment within the area of fire origin, one possible cause of the fire was the failure of electrical equipment being used in the building.
