The North Dakota Energy Conference is underway at the Alerus Center. The two day event brings energy executives together from around the state. Over 40 speakers are featured to address biofuels…oil and gas…wind… geothermal… solar…carbon capture and electricity.
Lt-Governor Brent Sanford told the group that there is a robust conversation to lure the petrochemical industry into the state. Sanford says North Dakota produces a healthy supply of ethane via oil development.
Sanford says it's not economical to ship the stuff to Texas. He says in other areas they turn the ethane in plastics. He says the state has enough produced ethane to support that type of industry in the state.
North Dakota produces around 3 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The Grand Forks conference runs through today (Thursday).
