GF / EGF - New Bridge

There hasn’t been a new bridge linking Grand Forks and East Grand Forks since 1964 - but that could soon change. Officials from the two cities met last night to discuss cooperative projects - including a new river crossing. East Grand Forks Mayor Steve Gander says a south end “neighborhood” bridge is a priority for the city. He says the goal is to reduce the push of north-south traffic through existing residential areas. Gander says he envisions the bridge being somewhere between 13th Avenue South and 32nd Avenue South on the Grand Forks side. Gander says anything further south really doesn’t benefit the residential areas of East Grand Forks.
The two sides vow to complete some initial studies before making the case to their respective state D-O-T’s.
