The Social Detox Center in Grand Forks had more than 450 admissions in 2017. A year-end report suggests 140 different clients came through the doors of the sober house during the first full year of operation. Director Curtis Scanson says he would expect those numbers to go up in 2018 and beyond as awareness of the center grows.
Scanson says increased admissions should not adversely impact the center’s bottom line.
The facility has nine beds and operates on an annual budget of 350-thousand dollars. It’s a joint project of the city…county…Northeast Human Services…and Altru Health.
The facility opened in October of 2016. Health Director Debbie Swanson says the Detox Center fills an unfilled need in the community. Swanson says identifying sustainable funding past 2019 is a work in progress.
