GF Council - Voting

Grand Forks voters will have to wait a little longer to find out how many polling locations will be utilized in the 2018 elections. The city used just a single voting site for a pair of special elections this year. Last week the city council gave preliminary approval to seven locations for the primary and general elections.
A new suggestion is designating several voting locations that anybody could vote at. City Clerk Sherrie Lundmark says that wouldn’t work given current state election technology.
Lundmark says each site would also require additional ballots increase overall election costs.
The council delayed a vote on the election issue until December 18th -- three members were absent from last night’s meeting.
In other council action…members approved bids on the reconstruction of North 42nd Street next summer. Reede Construction of Aberdeen (SD) won the bid at $4.57 million dollars – 16-percent below engineer estimates.
