A working committee of the Grand Forks Correctional Center is evaluating proposals to study potential expansion of the local jail. Jail Administrator Bret Burkholder says three companies responded to an R-F-P process to review space needs moving forward. Burkholder says last year was another record for inmates. The county has set aside 50-thousand dollars in the 2017 budget to conduct the analysis. Burkholder says part of the equation is bricks and mortar - but the other is alternatives to incarceration.
Three companies responded to the R-F-P process. Two of the proposals have been approved for study. The county board today (Tues) will decide whether to add a third firm into the mix.
