A former U-S probation officer from Minnesota has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in federal prison for lying to the FBI about his inappropriate sexual contact with multiple probationers under his supervision.
The U-S Attorney’s Office says the sentence against 56-year-old Dennis Bresnahan of Forest Lake is above the guideline of zero-to-six months in prison.
Authorities say in 2016, Bresnahan admitted to engaging in inappropriate behavior with -- and receiving a topless photo of – a witness. Bresnahan also denied having similar conduct with other probationers, but the FBI found it had been happening as far back as 1994.
U-S District Court Judge Robert Pratt called Bresnahan’s conduct “loathsome and appalling.”
