The head of the Environmental Protection Agency traveled to Grand Forks on Wednesday. The closed door meetings with Scott Pruitt reportedly centered on federal rules and the need to reduce regulatory burdens on farmers and energy producers.
In prepared statements:
Governor Doug Burgum says there was a good discussion about the E-P-A moves to rescind the waters of the U-S rule to give more regulatory certainty to farmers and land owners.
Congressman Kevin Cramer says the meeting highlighted North Dakota leading the way in energy independence and environmental stewardship- through innovation.
Senator John Hoeven says family farms cannot bear the costs of federal overreach and he appreciates Administrator Pruitt’s commitment to working on that front.
Pruitt toured U-N-D’s Energy Center during the visit and also spent time in Fargo earlier in the day.
