EGF - Winter Wx Policy

Another sign of things to come. East Grand Forks officials discussed the city’s severe weather policy last night. The goal is to try and keep city offices open for business – if possible. City Administrator David Murphy says the challenge is to balance safety while providing appropriate levels of service to the public. The city will confer with other federal…state…local jurisdictions before making the call whether to close city hall. Mayor Steve Gander says it’s a little different than a school district starting two hours late.
Last year city hall was closed two days due to severe weather. The policy would not impact emergency personnel. Employees would also not lose benefits as a result of any closure.
By the way…the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Watch for much of the Red River Valley for Thursday into Friday.
