The East Grand Forks School Board discussed the 2018 levy last night. The board considered a two-percent increase next year. Superintendent Mike Kollness says the budget will total around three-point-eight million dollars. He says the board is very aware of the impact to taxpayers.
Kollness says enrollment is up - and that helps - but it's hard to stay within the two-percent increase in state funding.
Final budget approval is not expected until December.
The board also looked over a new contract with the teachers. The deal calls for a 2.57% increase in year one of the agreement - and 3.35% in year two.
