EGF Parking Fee

East Grand Forks is inching towards the establishment of a maintenance fee for downtown parking. The council reviewed a similar law on the books in Grand Forks during last night’s work session. Mayor Steve Gander says right now the city covers many of those every day costs through the general fund. Gander says the question becomes how to pay for long-term replacement of lots. He says that's when the bill starts to get expensive.

Still to be decided is how to assess any fee based on square footage…use…property owner or business. The council is expected to discuss the issue further at a future meeting.

The council also approved replacing all the windows at the Senior Center at a cost of over 21-thousand dollars. Council member Clarence Vetter objected to expense saying it was 35-percent higher than a competing bid.
