EGF Interconnect Project

The East Grand Forks council has set a bid date of September 20th for decommissioning the city’s waste water ponds. The estimated cost is around six-point-two million dollars.
The ponds will no longer be needed once the “interconnect” is complete. That project involves placing a pipe under the Red River that carries sewage from East Grand Forks to the Grand Forks treatment plant. East Grand Forks secured a five-point-three million dollar grant from the state of Minnesota to help defray the cost.
East Grand Forks will maintain a 22 acre site in event of an emergency. The “dry” basin would have enough storage capacity for three weeks.
