The East Grand Forks council is looking at the possibility of re-establishing a charter commission to review the rules that govern of city hall. The city has not had an active commission since the 1990’s. City Administrator Dave Murphy says only one member of that nine person board is still alive and living in East Grand Forks. He says a new body would have to be appointed. Council member Marc Demers is an advocate of the idea.Council Member Henry Tweten says unless there are substantial issues for the commission to address - it may be a waste of time.Creating the commission would require a public vote.
