East Grand Forks officials are zeroing in on a new brand to help define and promote the city.

The Economic Development Authority on Tuesday voiced its preference of “Life Connected” -- one of three brands suggested by the AE2S consulting group, hired to develop a marketing plan for the city.

The city council recently stated its preference for the “Life Connected” brand, but took no action.

EDA Director Paul Gorte says the matter now goes to the city council next week.

As for the cost, Gorte said, "We budgeted about $29,000 over a two-year period for the marketing plan and strategy. And we anticipate it coming in well under budget. It came out of the normal budget without having any additional moneys added to the budget."

Discussion continues on details of the graphic design for the brand.
