The gold shovels were out in full force as Digi-Key officials began construction today on a mega-million dollar expansion in Thief River Falls (MN). The company is adding a 200-million dollar manufacturing warehouse center to its existing complex in the northwestern Minnesota city. The electronics component company says the expansion will result in one-thousand new jobs over the next ten years. Thief River Falls Mayor Brian Holmer says that will take a regional effort to fill all those jobs.
Holmer says the economic impact to the city will be significant.
Digi-Key currently has a Minnesota workforce of around 32-hundred.
Among those attending the groundbreaking – Governor Mark Dayton.
