As U-A-S technology advances so does the security risk posed by unmanned aircraft. With that in mind Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen traveled to Grand Forks to look at how drones can improve National Security. Nielsen says the goal is to use the emerging technology to prevent outside threats.
Nielsen joined U-S Senator John Hoeven on a tour of the Grand Sky U-A-S tech park west of Grand Forks. She says greater use of drones along the U-S border can be a huge force multiplier. Nielsen says you never have enough people to stand watch along all of our borders but through technology we can see and address threats as they present themselves.
Senator Hoeven says North Dakota has the right mix of federal...state...military...and private U-A-S operations to meet the nation's security concerns.
