North Dakota Republican Congressman Kevin Cramer has decided not to run for the U.S. Senate.
Cramer on Thursday announced that he plans to run for re-election this year, instead of challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp.
Cramer says the biggest factor in his decision was potential time away from his family.
Cramer also says he feels he can best serve North Dakota in the House.
Cramer has held his Congressional seat since 2013. He says he would not rule out running for Senate later in life.
So far, Republican State Senator Tom Campbell of Grafton is the only candidate to announce he will run against Heitkamp.
Cramer made his comments on KNOX’s Jarrod Thomas program.
