North Dakota Republican Congressman Kevin Cramer says he hasn’t decided whether he will run for re-election next year—or run for the U-S Senate seat held by Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.
On Wednesday, Grafton farmer and Republican State Senator Tom Campbell announced his plans to run for Heitkamp’s senate seat. Heitkamp has yet to divulge whether she will run for re-election..
Cramer said he urged Campbell to run. As for Cramer himself, he says his decision will be based on where he can contribute the most.
"I have the luxury of not having to make a decision early," Cramer said on Thursday's Jarrod Thomas Show on KNOX. "I think it's better for me, both politically and in terms of doing the job for North Dakotans in the U.S. House, to not make an early decision, so I'm going to exercise that luxury that I have, but in the meantime, encourage Tom and anyone else who gets into the race, good people...to do what they need to do to increase their brand and their name recognition and their viability for the general election."
Campbell calls Cramer a good friend who does a phenomenal
Meanwhile, a Democratic former state representative, Ben Hanson of Fargo, is seeking Cramer’s seat in the U-S house.
