North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum has been elected chair of the Western Governors’ Association for 2019-2020.
That move coming on the final day of the association’s three-day annual meeting in Colorado.
Burgum began his term by announcing his central policy initiative for the coming year, titled “Reimagining the Rural West.” The initiative will examine challenges and opportunities in rural economic development, infrastructure and quality of life… with a goal of recommending policies and practices to support vibrant and enduring rural communities in the West.
Burgum also announced that next year’s WGA meeting will be held in Medora.
