The grand forks air force base school board will take the next step towards shuttering one of two schools come fall. the grand forks school district will hold a public meeting to discuss the closure prior to the board deciding the issue in march or april. The combined enrollment for twining and eielson is currently at 343 students. Superintendent larry nybladh says the twining school has the more than ample capacity. The district could see federal impact aid reduced by another 300-thousand dollars.
Closing eielson would save upwards of 500-thousand dollars. the g-f-a-f-b student population peaked in 1995 at one-thousand-574.
