A vote on a one-million dollar plus cut in school spending was delayed by the grand forks school board last night. Several members say they were not prepared to vote on budget issue since it was not listed under the action item portion of the agenda. others voiced concerns about a 15-thousand dollar trim job to the artist in residency program. School officials have identified over two-dozen areas where the budget can be reduced to eliminate deficit spending. Those cuts range from a soft hiring freeze and eliminating unused phone lines to energy savings measures and eliminating the cost of throwing a holiday party for staff at the mark sanford center. Business manager Vicky Schwartz says they tried to keep the bulk of the cuts from impacting classrooms.
The board will take the issue up at a meeting in two weeks.
