The city of grand forks will begin polling residents on what size recycling container they would like while negotiating the fine-points of a deal with provider waste management. public works director todd feland says the goal is to complete the survey in july and put the containers out for bid in august. Feland says they will work with the information office on the survey.
Feland says the options include a 90 gallon container….60 gallon…or no container at all. The average homeowner will see costs jump from two-dollars-52 cents a month to two-93 with a 90 gallon container – plus the cost of the container.
Feland says waste management seems agreeable to alley pick-up for recycling containers and the two sides are talking about a marketing plan. The city council has asked the company to spend 30-thousand dollars a year on promoting recycling.
