The future of recycling in grand forks could be decided in a couple of weeks. The safety-service committee delayed action on an enhanced recycling program last night. The city is looking at whether to maintain the existing curbside program or go to an enhanced effort that includes roll-out containers. The enhanced program is designed to streamline recycling and boost participation in the program Along with more users comes increased costs. Committee chair terry bjerke says he would just as soon scrap the entire effort.
Supporters say the enhanced program will help meet a 40-percent recycling diversion goal that is a part of the landfill permit agreement with the state.
