Bus ridership has set an all-time record in Grand Forks in 2012. The Cities Area Transit (CAT) reports that this year’s ridership has already surpassed last year’s totals.
The increase is due in large part to more adult riders, who are taking the bus in record numbers. Adult ridership is up more than 20% in 2012. More than 133,600 adults have already boarded the bus this year, compared to just over 111,000 all of last year.
“We still have five more weeks left in the year”, said Dale Bergman, Transportation Superintendent for the Cities Area Transit system. “If this trend continues, we could see more than 375,000 riders by the end of 2012.” In 2011, 328,880 rides were provided by Cities Area Transit.
