A planned expansion of the cirrus design plant in grand forks is officially underway. Cirrus took possession this week of an autoclave oven designed to make carbon fiber airplane parts. When up and running the autoclave will allow the airplane manufacturer to produce the parts in house rather than outsource production to an out-of-state company. The giant piece of equipment is part of a one-and-a-half million dollar upgrade to the existing plant. Earlier this year the city of grand forks approved a pair of loans totaling 950-thousand dollars to help seal the deal. Cirrus says the move will strengthen the grand forks location and bring ten new jobs to the region. The autoclave is expected to be up and running by mid-august.
